Fake edge thickness on thin object?

Is there a way to fake edge thickness on an object with no thickness, like a piece of paper? Just so you see the light catching the edge...

you can try vray edge option in the shading group.

I don't think it's going to work; the rounded corners won't work on a flat piece of paper. But a bump map should work well...
