  • Installing nightly builds OSX _ super user

Hi, I'm on Osx Snow leopard.

I had to reinstall maya and hence the latest nightly build i was using. I'm trying to reinstall it, and for some reason it is telling me that i don't have super user privaleges, but i have used the directory utility and enabled the root user, i'm sure this worked previously, i just double clicked the (weird unix executable command) file and it worked. Can anyone remind me of how you do install the nightly builds on Osx? I would be really grateful?

    thanks in advance!

You need to use the sudo command as explained in the install guide here: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/maya...rayformaya.pdf

Thanks. I had followed the instructions in the guide and couldn't get vray_adv_22501_maya2012_snow_leopardx64_22368 to open. I then used 22286 instead and it opened.

Just tried again with another version. Following the example in the manual with exactly the same syntax doesn't work. It says 'command not found' I believe this is why i got it going before by changing my enabling root user as i couldn't get it working using the method outlined in the manual.

For anyone who stumbles upon this, an easier way to do it than the method outlined in the manual is just to type sudo and then drag the file into the terminal. Works a treat.
