  • Render Yeti fur as flat planes for grass?

    Hi,

Is there any way to control the shape of fur coming from Yeti? Right now it renders as tubes. I would like it to render more like planes to get it to look like grass.

    Thanks!

The hair strands can render as either tubes or flat ribbons that always face the camera (depending on the material you use for them); if you want more control, you will need to use actual geometry.

Hey, sorry for digging out the old thread, I am working on the artificial grass and this is my results so far, please ignore the color difference. Is this correct shape difference between V-Ray MTL and NEXT HairMTL. I am trying to achive the straight, rectangular shape like on the reference. I tried with thickness texture but it applied to WHOLE grass objects not to individual blades.

To get something that's similar to the picture, it would be best to use actual geometry.
Otherwise, generally yes - that's what you will get with the standard VRayMtl vs the HairMtl (Hair3mtl, not hairNextMtl, as hairNextmtl will always shade the strands as tubes).
