  • Displacement and "not file" texture

    Its possible to use Maya 2d and 3d textures as Displacement?.

    I'm trying it, but I haven't results if I connect a simple checker or grid.

    With files always works, projected inclusive, but neither noise, mountain, fractal...


    Is there any reason for this?. In diffuse color it works perfectly!

    This limitation is only for displacement, or there is some channel that neither works?.

    I'm using Nightly vray_adv_22501_maya2012_x64_22616.

      Yes, now works for me too. I'm getting crazy all the morning, but yes, now I know what was.

      It happens that if you choose for Displacement the Grid texture "as projection", attribute "alpha is luminance" is off by default, so there was appearently no displacement (or global displacement at all surface).

      But still I can't explain how I've done for attach a noise and get it not working...

      I supposse I'm comdemned to find the correct way after make a post in the forum. Sorry Vlado for waste your time because me, and thank you for be there.
