Is there a way in V-Ray for Maya to suck light out of a scene?

I don't think it's possible... but what I'm talking about is creating a light with a negative intensity value which would make such a light source remove light from the scene where it would otherwise cast light. Back in the (pre-Vray) day when GI was barely usable for mortals, I used this a lot to "paint" light out of a scene.

I just heard from a colleague that you can set the color value of a light to a negative value, so there you go.

      Hello Fredrik,

According to my tests , negative color values works only with Ambient Light.

Ok, thanks. This isn't really anything that I need. I was just curious if it was possible at all as I noticed I couldn't enter negative values for lights.
        Best Regards,
        Fredrik
