Default render settings maya

This might be more of a maya than vray question but throwing it out there anyways. What is your preferred way for setting up default settings for vray? Global and project specific.

Also have anyone figured out a nice way to make Render Settings presets available globally? MAYA_PRESET_PATH only picks up node presets. I would prefer not having to create symlinks for all users.

I have a network repository, then a script that copies the files on startup. Its definitely not as clean as I'd like, so I'm also interested in suggestions.
