    It's odd that it renders slower. Does it do that even if the colors are still the same?

      Interesting: At a resolution of 500px

      -) shaveHairShape (hairColor connected to overallColor) Colors/ Same color value in all shave slots: 6m 38sec

      -) shaveHairShape (hairColor connected to overallColor) Colors/ Multiple color values between shave slots: 5m 51sec

      -) remapColor/gammaCorrect node (connected to overallColor) single color node: 4m 59sec

            Were you guys able to see longer render times with the shave colors being plugged into the overall color of VRHairMtl? Just want to know if I made a mistake somewhere and if there is a different way to get color streaking in the hair using Shave.

              I wanted to circle back to an earlier comment on this thread and ask if the september 2013 build of vray 2.30.02 has the random by strand attribute that you mention in this maya version. I am looking to see how it can handle randomness by strand in terms of color or even used in other ways. I am working in Yeti 1.2.8 with the vray hairmtl3 and trying to match shave on the mutant hair control. If there are other methods to achieve this in a controlled manner...i.e. akin to a percentage of hairs like shave...I would be appreciative. Most of my methods now just don't quite get the control I want.
