  • too many EXR writes to server on render farm

    Hello,
We are running vray for maya on a deadline farm, and our server is being brought down due to constant writes to exr files during the render process. Before I embark on writing a python script to write to a local temp directory on each node, then copying the file a single time; I am wondering if functionality of this sort is already built in to vray. We are writing scanline zip files and have many layers. It is not a good option to write a different format.
    Thanks
    MD

It's built in to deadline in the max submitter anyway - it's a tick box called "enable local rendering" which does exactly as you describe. Oddly on the max side it causes problems as when deadline rewrites the max paths, it forgets to take all the other exr options you've set and screws your files!
