  • Cuda option for RT not available

    Hi,

I'm using Maya 2013 with Vray 2.3. My Workstation has a Nvidia Quadro 4000 and a Tesla C2050. I have watched this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7niAKeAVxY and saw that there is in the rendersettings for RT in the Engine section a dropdown menue with the menuepoint Cuda. This is missing in my rendersettings. Is there a way to activate it?

Also the guy in the video said that he set the Quadro for graphics and the Tesla for computing. How do I do it? I did not find anything in the NVidia Systemsettings. I am also not very good at setting environment variables etc as I do not really understand all of it. Could someone please help me out with a very easy (best step to step) instruction on how to do it?

Thank you very much in advance!

    Regards,

    Sebastien

    Hi,
Do you use official build ?
If yes, i think you have to use nightly build to have cuda.

      Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I am using the official build. Do I get the nightly build from the download section? Do the builds change really daily, and are they stable? I'm asking because probably the admin of my company will ask me the same questions and I personally have no access to the download section.

No, you have to write an email to our support at vraymaya @ chaosgroup.com to get access to them.

They are relatively stable, but new features get added relatively often and sometimes instabilities slip up, unfortunately.

Will there be an official build with this function any time soon (Vray 2)?

how about setting the graphics cards to render/compute? Is this also a new setting in the nightly builds as well or can it already be done now? And if it can, how do I do it?

We hope will do another release soon, but we can't give you exact time frames.

About the compute cards: I think you could use the ocldeviceselect utility supplied with the installation of V-Ray for Maya to do this.
