  • SSS opacity

I'm doing some feathers with Yeti & want to use the SSS shader as on the polygon cards im instancing as it looks good. but I want to use a map to cut out the feather shape ,like I would put in the opacity slot on a vray standard shader. Can this be done on the SSS shader ?? I couldn't make it work

    Thanks
    Chris

If it's a single sided card, you can use 2-sided material. sss is for solid objects, 2 sided for very thin objects.

You can connect your sss shader to a first coat layer of the blend material and leave the base layer blank, you can use your opacity map as a mask for the coat 0, this will make it transparent along the mask.

With this said though, I'd really wish sss material had all proper slots so we don't do the wizardry.

I will notify you when we have it.
