  • What is diffrent this tow setting??

    Hello Chaos group

I'm curious about gamma setting for linear workflow.

    I made texture in sRGB.
    I set up like this.
Color mapping Type : Linear multiply
    Dark multiplier : 1
    Bright multiplier :
    gamma : 2.2
    affect background : checked
    subpixel mapping : unchecked
    Don't affect colors :checked

    I made 2 scenes.

first. I only checked linear workflow option.

second. I uncheked linear workflow option.
and I checked "enable input texture corrention" option color node.

I found it is diffrent between two images in diffuse pass.
second one is more desaturated than first one.

    which one is right?

File texture node. I checked Texture input gamma and set sRGB.

Maya SRGB texture input and gamma system is bugged and it is not working.

The only thing you have to do when you want to work with vray in linear mode is.

        Load Vray as render engine
        Save to EXR
Every texture have vray attributed enabled for gamma correction.
        Render.

Which version is that - I got two identical diffuse channels ?
Would it be possible to attach the scene for investigation ?

I use maya 2014 on linux. and vray version is 2.3.
I send you e-mail with my test scene.

What about Maya colour swatches? They also need to be corrected, do they not? (Plug a gamma correct node into diffuse slot, set this node to .454, pick your colour in this node)

When I use gamma correct node into diffuse slot, It's same between check linear workflow scene and plug gamma correct node scene.

                    Hi,

                    Thank you for the scene.
second. I uncheked linear workflow option.
and I checked "enable input texture corrention" option color node.
I see that you are using the "sRGB" option in the V-Ray texture attributes (Color space). The correction curve of the sRGB and Gamma 2.2 are slightly different, which make the differences in the beauty pass between both setups.
Please try to use the Gamma 2.2 instead and let me know if works.
