  • Memory usage log ?

    Hi,

Is there a way to get a log of the memory usage of a render once it's finished (or crashed) ?
I think my memory impact is really high and make the renders crash, but I can't know for sure until I can see what's happening ...

    Thanks a lot,

    Julien

For the moment, there's no way to get this info out of V-Ray directly. But we did this for V-Ray for Katana, so I'll make a note to see if we can add it to the Maya builds too. Then there are always system tools, but of course that's not particularly convenient.

    Best regards,

      Hi,

I too would like to know how to get the highest level of verbosity in the render output/logs? (Using VRay with Maya)

Very important for us to figure out for error and optimisation debugging.
I would like know things like:

      - Peak total memory use.
      - Peak texture memory use.
      - Time taken to tesselate geo.
      - Time taken to convert textures.
      - Memory used for tesselated geo.
      - Memory used for raytrace ray/data caches.
      - Time/Memory used for all the various stages and subroutines of a render.

      Cheers
      Fred

detailed memory useage report is indispensable to optimization and debugging of a rendering.

        Its is difficult at standalone?

It is not simple, especially when we have to retrofit it to all the existing code.

            okay.
            It hopes for V-Ray 5.0.

I am hoping that it's sooner than that

                Any news on this?

We currently have scenes that use a boat load of memory and any helpful tools to find the culprit would be great.
