FEATURE REQUEST: Standalone VRFB in OS X or any platform for that matter

I'm personally on OS X but I'm not sure if this is available on any of the platforms it would be very nice to have. IT would be great if I could launch the VRFB without actually having to start maya. having this as a standalone application would be really nice to have. Especially if we can have it so that the file association of .vrimg files will open it. Per haps there is a way of doing this that I'm not aware of. if so can we having he installers start making the file association for us?

And if not is this something can we can have implemented. I know I'm not the only one that thinks this would be handy.
