  • Dumb maya noob question #1 - choose a specific uv set to feed into samplerinfo?

    Heya Folks,

I'm just starting my first maya project (awwwww) and I'm trying to figure out a load of bits I used to do in max as regards utility passes for the lovely compositors. One of them is putting out UV passes so that the compers can mask and remap things as they like, but I was wondering is there a way to feed a specific uv channel number or set into the sampler info texture map? On the max side each uv channel has a number and you can simply type the same number into the sampler info element, is there a way to do the same thing in maya?

    Cheers!

Instead of the samplerInfo node, you can use a TexUVW texture (Create > V-Ray > Create from plugin > UVWTex, choose 2D placement node). Then, go to the 2d placement node connected to the UVWTex, add "2D placement options" V-Ray attributes to it. Where is says UV set name, type the name of the set that you want to display.

Perhaps we should just add the capability to use those attributes directly to the samplerInfo node though.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Thanks for that - yep, the channel name would be very handy to have.
