image file to vrimg

Is it possible to convert a png to .vrimg file?

I want to be able to load up an image in the VFB but dont have it saved out as vrimg, so cannot load it in.
When making corrections to an illustration it's really good to be able to load up the image and just area select the region that needs fixing and save out again.

We have a load of illustrations -png, but no accompanying vrimg formats

Use the load image button in the VFB. It supports many formats.

Here is a screen shot, this folder has a load of png's which dont show up, and there's no formats in the drop down list.
This is vray 2.

Seem I may need to re install?

just installed the nightly version but still no format options in the drop down list to import various formats...

Yes, I confirm it won't work in 2.xx, because this is a feature added only in 3.0.

The only workaround I can think of is to render the image as environment background and to use screen mapping
