  • reflection matte

    Hi all

Does anyone know how to extract a matte for reflection.

pretty simple scene i have a box in an enviroment with a ground plane and walls (STUDIO SETUP).

I just want to create a matte for the reflection of the BOX ONLY.

my reflection pass for the floor contains the box and the reflected enviroment.

Yep. What you need to do is add in an extratex render element and put a vraydirt into it. Set the occlusion mode to reflection occlusion with whatever material type you're getting a matte for, then set the glossiness value to the same as the material you're getting a matte for. you'll have to set the radius for the dirt high enough for it to capture all of the matte. The last trick is using some sets to control which objects you're getting a matte for and unfortunately I'm too new to maya to have figured some of the connections out yet!
