  • NETWORK GPU support for RT

    HI

Does anyone know of plans for RT to pick up Network GPU's whilst rendering? similar to CPU Distributed render support that we have now?

I see that Nvidia is launching a Network box full of GPU's - are we going to be able to utilise this using Vray and what would the constraints be, if any?

With the performance gain using GPU's it seems logical that render farms are going to possibly trend down this route too. Our small internal farm has been built with this thought in mind but i'd like to know how realistic this thinking is with Vray for Maya and how far off are we getting it introduced?

    Any thoughts???

I'm not sure I understand your question? The RT engine already supports DR, both in CPU and GPU mode. If you are talking about the nVidia VCA, I recorded a short video to demonstrate how to use it with V-Ray for 3ds Max and Maya, although you can certainly use it on its own as a render server with V-Ray Standalone:

We've already rendered a bunch of animations on a cluster of VCAs.

    Best regards,

I think you have already answered it Vlado - I didn't realise that Networked GPU's were used when running RT and with DR checked on.

Great thanks, off to do some testing!
