  • Exporting Nparticles as proxy

    Hi,
is it possible to export nparticle as a vray proxy?
I keep getting the following error:
// Warning: No instances in the current selection can be converted into proxies ! //
I also tried to instance a some poly sphere with my nparticles and they create a proxy from the instanced sphere, but that did work either.

I tried to export the nparticle as an alembic file to import as a vray proxy but I can't get it to work either.

    I am using Maya 2014
    [2014/Nov/5|11:07:16] V-Ray: V-Ray for Maya version 2.40.02 from May 14 2014, 16:40:13
    [2014/Nov/5|11:07:16] V-Ray: V-Ray core version is 2.00.02

    Any tips?

I have this large nparticle simulation that I need to instance in order to create this enormous scene.

    Thanks,

    Yannick

For the moment it will only work if you export to Alembic and then convert to .vrmesh - we don't have the particle export code in Maya yet.

      Hi Vlado.
      Thank for the answer.
I tried to export my nparticles as alembic but I couldn't have it to work.
Also how can I convert alembic file in a vrmesh file?
      Thanks,

You can use the ply2vrmesh tool to convert Alembic files to .vrmesh files.

Have you tried using the Exocortex tool? I thought the native Maya Alembic exporter works too, but you said that it doesn't - I'm not sure I can help here though.
