  • Environment variable for /maya_vray/shaders?

    Hi,

I'm trying to install V-Ray Scatter for Maya in an arbitrary location (as our Maya installation as well as the V-Ray installation is installed on the network, not locally).

V-Ray Scatter for Maya 2014 comes with a custom V-Ray texture (called VRayScatterTexture), which should reside in .../maya_vray/shaders.
However, I do not wish to place this file inside /maya_vray/shaders and I would instead like to use an environment variable to load this texture, if possible.

Is there an environment variable I can use which will load any such V-Ray textures as if they would have resided in /maya_vray/shaders?
    Best Regards,
    Fredrik

Yes, just append the path to VRAY_FOR_MAYAnnnn_PLUGINS_x64 by using ';' on windows or ':' on linux/osx.

Teodor is only partly right. There is also an environment variable VRAY_FOR_MAYA_SHADERS which must point to the .txt file that describes the shader to the translator.

I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
