Hello!
We are testing to implement opensubdiv in our workflow now that Maya2015 has it as default. And it would also enable us to use the same subdivision method with other engines. This is especially useful for us that have our own volume renderer since we can (and have) implented OpenSubdiv into the engine. Then (in theory) the subdivision scheme would be the same and the hold out mattes would be the same.
But... With VRay the rendertimes are 3-4 times longer if we use the OpenSubdiv attribute instead of the subdivision attribute. Is there any plans on optimizing this in the near future?
