  • Saving a caustic map for rendering an animation

If I want to precompute a caustic map to be read at render time, can I do this with the "don't render final image" option turned on in globals? I am assuming it works just as with saving out an irradiance map with GI. Please confirm.

    Thank you!

    Yes, it should work fine.

Well you can save the caustic map - however if it needs to move f.e. water then you need to recalculate the map per frame anyway.

Thanks for the responses! The only thing moving in my shot is the camera. It pulls away from the subject and one caustic map calculation at full frame is all I need. I had noise in my caustics when they were calculated every frame.

Great reel, Dmitry, by the way!
