  • Launch Vray Render Slave via Task Scheduler

    Hi All,

Just wondering if it is possible to launch the Vray Render Slave via the Task Scheduler in Windows 7?

We've just got a few machines in the office that are all set up to use DR. But it gets annoying having to launch the Slave program from the Start Menu every night, as during the day the designers don't wish to have it running.

I've tried to set it up, but when I put in the path for the shortcut in the Start Menu: "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Chaos Group\V-Ray for Maya 2015 for x64\Launch V-Ray render slave" it doesn't seem to start anything!

Anybody else managed to do this successfully?

    Thanks for any help

    Hi,

You have to use .bat file for this case.
    Here is the workflow:

    *) Create a .bat file with the following command - start /d "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2015\" vrayspawner2015.exe
This example is for V-Ray for 3DS Max 2015.
*) This .bat file should be accessible from all machines.
*) Open Task scheduler > Action > Create basic task
*) Type a name for this Task and setup the the start time
*) Then select "Start a program" and add the path to the .bat file
