No, it doesn't work yet; we kind of abandoned it for a while as it was too difficult. The VRayGLSLTex works on the GPU though.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

I thought OSL was supported in GPU...I doesn't seem to work.

Yes, this limitation is still valid for the latest release.

While i'm not aware of any change between 3.40.03 and the nightlies, this worked before 40.03 was released and afterwards (meaning it's either broken in the specific version, or there is some other user error).
Notice that's load -> change frequency from 1.0 to 0.1, render.

Ok sorry I didn't notice it was a Maya thread neither.
At least we now know it doesn't work in max. So maybe it should be specified in that OSL Additional procedural noises page.

The Max and Maya implementations are a bit different since in 3ds Max we have to go through its own rendering API for textures.

Though I guess that begs the question: should it matter? If it's all VRay, shouldn't it work for any version?

It's probably just a Max thing. I didn't realize this was a Maya thread when I complained.

are you doing precisely what the instructions say (no "wrap texture coordinates" checked in the sample posted above)?
I tried the lot, they work flawlessly with volumes and objects (provided one doesn't try to map the 3d noise field to a 2d UV map...).
So set the mapping to Object space, and turn off "wrap texture coordinates".
    Then it'll work.
