  • how to bake ground shadow?

    Hi,

Can someone please tell me how I can simply bake my ground shadow out on my ground plane? I've been trying unsuccessfully for a while..

I just want to use this texture as an opacity map for the shadow plane.

    Thanks!

    Eric

Hmm, if you can get the shadow to output in the main vray vfb then it should be able to bake it just the same. I think if you use alpha -1 option then the shadow will actually be in the alpha channel of that render. You can choose to output alpha as separate file and get it from there.

Ah I didn't know I had to use a special texture on the ground plane. I just had a grey vray material on my object and my shadow.

Using the vray material wrapper method I was able to render out what I wanted, getting the shadow in the alpha on the baked texture

reference for the shadow material- http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...ghlight=shadow

Its one of the ways of doing that. You can also simply enable render element - matte shadow and it will generate the shadow in that channel too.
