  • SamplerInfo - "Vray Mtl IDTex", "Vray Obj IDTex", VRay Parent Obj IDTex"

I couldn't find any information on these maps.

What would be the reason for using these passes over the standard object and material ID passes?
With the Object IDTex, does this mean I can render a objectID pass of any custom user attribute?

How does the "Parent Obj IDTex" work? I thought any parent ID would take precedence over a child objects' IDs?

    Thanks again!

V-Ray creates a new context for each spawned ray, so it can find the parent of the current context and get the id from there. I guess you can achieve some interesting effects by feeding this id to another texture/material (like VRaySwitchMtl).

The use case was to make a specific object appear with a different material in the reflections of a specific other object.
