  • VRayPlaceEnvTex possible to change projection origin?

    Hi,

Is it possible to alter the projection origin of the VRayPlaceEnvTex node?

For example, I need to change the point of which a spherical map is projected from to match the camera height on the tripod (5 feet). I can do this with a normal spherical projection in Maya but wondering if I can do the same with the VRayPlaceEnvTex node?

    Thanks,

I don't think you can achieve that effect with the VRayPlaceEnvTex. How did you translate the projection origin with the spherical projection?

      Hi, thanks for the reply.

You can alter the projection origin of a spherical projection by adjusting the translation / rotation of the 3dPlacement node. As a working example, this should usually be set to the height of the camera when capturing the HDRI / Spherical map.

      Many Thanks

VRayPlaceEnvTex will not work for your purposes. To project on actual geometry you need a regular projection texture.
