  • Need tagent space normal information

    hi,

    I need the normal map based on tangent space such as the image that could be produced by some modeling tools (mudbox or zbrush). The render element provide a "normals" pass but the result is world space normal. I wonder if VRay for Maya provide such functionality or not ? Do i need to implement a shader plugin to retrieve this information ?

    Is this for texture baking, or not? The Normals render element is not in world space, but in screen space, which in the case of texture baking is exactly the UV tangent space.

      hi Vlado,

      I just want to make a tangent space normal from a sculpted plane. Do you mean the normal render element (rendered with top orthognal camera) is just the tangent space normal ?

      And How to perform the texture baking to produce tangent space normal ? I don't see any tangent space normal related option in document.
