  • Any way to mimic the behavior of Maya Volume Lights?

Not *volumetric* lighting. I mean the old Maya Volume lights that let you control falloff with a sphere or cube shape. It looks like V-Ray doesn't support them so I'm trying to find a work-around to emulate that falloff control.

I thought I'd found a solution using VraySphereFade but I need to reference in multiple instances of this light rig and I can only use one environment volume at a time when rendering.

Breaking out a separate render layer for mental ray is a no-go because I don't have MR on the farm and making a pass for Maya Software render is no-go because displacements look terrible.

I'm playing around with some SOuP nodes but I'm not optimistic... Any ideas guys? I'm a bit stuck here.

    Thanks!

The only way is to create cones around your spot lights and pick those as gizmos for the VRayEnvironmentFog shader.

    Best regards,

I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
