That one is by mistake; it should have been enabled really. Will make a note to fix it. Does it work ok the way it is now or you need to do specific adjustments?
I was able to access it by checking the Use local subdivs box under the DMC sampler. I would like to not have to do this (like it was in 3.2) but if it was a mistake and will be fixed, I can live with it until the next update.
The 'use local subdivs' is an option with big implications, here is how it is described in the 3DSMax V-ray help, doesn't seem to be in the Maya help:
Use local subdivs – when disabled, V-Ray will automatically determine subdivs values for sampling of materials, lights and other shading effects based on the Min shading rate parameter for the image sampler. When enabled, the subdivs values from the respective materials/lights are used.
This does exactly what it says, it determins the 'best' subdivs for all materials lights etc. and it does this quite well in my experience so far. I didn't reasile it didn't stretch to the Vray dirt texture.
Vlado, are there any other nodes with subdivs that are uneffected by the 'use local subdivs'?

thanks,

Yeah. I get a lot of noise in my vray dirt passes if I leave the Use local subdivs option disabled.
Just a suggestion to the people at Chaos Group, I love Vray but the documentation for Maya version could be better. I would like to see a lot more information on everything. We Maya users have to deal with the fact that most tutorials are 3ds Max centric and adding more the online help would help IMO.
