  • Mixing mac and pcs

    Hi all

Is it possible to mix mac and pc's for distributed rendering.

i.e. can I send a render of a high res shot from a pc, using multiple mac pro's for DR?

    Cheers

    Steve

I'd imagine you would need same build numbers of vray and maya's on all machines. Then you would also need to handle network paths, so that on PC and MAC they are resolved correctly, after this it should be working.

That's a very good point from Dmitry. In DR the general rule of thumb is to use the same builds on all machines.
Besides using network paths for assets, there's always the option to transfer the assets from the machine that starts the redering to all "slave" machines (it's right there with the DR option in Maya).
