  • Rendering inside Volume Fog geometry

Is it possible to render an object filled with a volume fog when a camera is also inside the geometry? I'm trying to render a camera pass travelling through a light juice liquid. Volume Fog works great until camera penetrates the surface geometry — where it disappears. It seems I've been able to do this before, just can't find the workflow now.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

You should use Environment volume override. It is set in Render Settings -> Overrides -> Volumetrics.

Thank you for the quick response. The Environment volume override does create the volume but seem to be a global effect. For the effect, I'm trying to have the camera reverse travel through a "fog" and then exit the fog container and continue a pullback (travel through a murky liquid revealing a product shot of bottle w/liquid). Is there a way to have the environment volume override limited to a geometry volume?

Yes, the environment volume node is a set.
If you add mesh objects to the set it will confine the fog inside these objects (you just have to make them transparent).

Thank you, that's what I was missing.
