  • GI subdivs with variance sampling

I'm noticing that while light and material subdivs are greyed out when "use local subdivs" is off in the Render Settings, the GI subdivs are still on (i.e. not greyed out). I would have thought that GI subdivs would be included in the new adaptive sampling method and thus determined by the render rather than set manually. Is that not the case, and GI subdivs still need to be set manually?

They should be greyed out too - will make a note about it.

    Best regards,

Ah okay. So currently, if the GI subdivs are changed when "use local subdivs" is OFF (let's say the LC is increased from 2000 to 4000), would that simply be ignored by the render, which would instead automatically determine the needed subdivs for the GI?

For the moment NO, V-Ray won't determine the GI subdivisions automatically and it will use the subdivisions values specified in the corresponding fields.
Only Brute Force subdivisions will be handled automatically.
