  • Getting an asset from Maya > 3ds Max ?

    Hi there,

I have an asset (geo + vray shaders) built in Maya that I am trying to get into 3ds Max but can't seem to figure out how to take the shaders over. The geo isnt a problem of course.

Is there currently a way of achieving this? I was thinking of exporting the Maya scene as .vrscene and loading that into 3ds Max although it doesnt look like this is possible?

    vray for max is 3.4

    vray for maya is 3.1

Any advice on the best way to tackle this would be appreciated.

    Thanks

The support for rendering vrscene files directly into 3ds max is still in development.
You could try porting the geo as vrmesh (or fbx, or alembic, or obj, etc) and porting the shader as vrmat (that can be exported from maya as well and then read in 3ds max).
It all really depends on whether you would want to only render the assets or also edit it once it's imported into 3ds max.
