  • Vray Hair, Xgen how to?

    Hey

How can I connect different textures to Xgen to Vray Hair map ? So I can tweak specular/gloss/diffuse?

    Thanks!

    Regards

XGen uses ptex maps instead of normal textures.
To get Vray to find this for shading, add a custom attributed named root_color and set it as color, not float. (You can also add another one called tip_color, if you want a different texture for the tips).
Plug in the ptex map in that attribute, or take "create map" and choose a file texture to look at, and then press the save icon, and it will be converted to a ptex file.

Then you can just use the VrayHairSampler node as a texture-node. So you can plug it into diffuse/gloss, or have it go through some color correcting, etc.

You can read abit more indepth how to do here (how to get your textures to work in vray should be in chapter 4):

        Good luck!
