  • VRScene Size

    Hi Chaos-Group Community,

I have a simple question regarding the .vrscene export. I cached my xgen custom archives to a .vrscene cache through the xgen gui(all together 400 mb file size). Before submitting the scene to our renderfarm we need to translate the scene to a .vrscene. The xgen-custom archives are static and there is no animation on the "spawn"-geometry, just a simple camera animation from 1-120 frames.

    My question is:
If I uncheck the option "Each frame in seperate file", my .vrscene gets very big (like 6 GB). I would like to keep it a little bit less in filesize because I don't want to occupy that much of our network.

Why is getting my .vrscene so big? I thought it saves the position of the xgen archives in it at frame 1 and as it includes no animation it shouldn't change. But it seems like it saves it in each frame.

Unfortunately I can't open the vrscene and check it beacause the filesize is too big. Did I something wrong in while exporting ? Is there any hack I missed or has it to be this big ?

    Kind regards
    Pirmin

XGen nodes are always exported at every frame, unfortunately (both splines and archives). The way XGen works, we can't know that there wasn't a change in the archives' positions without doing a very expensive delta check on each exported frame.
