  • VRScans cutoff issue

    Hi all

Looks like there's a cutoff of the floor shadow in the sphere reflection using VRScans.

This cutoff is not visible in the VRayMtl.

    Cheers

Could you share the scene? It's a bit hard to judge just from the image.

      Is this a little clearer?

I'll have to strip the scene down to send it over.

        Not really
I'd like to ask so many questions that would not be needed if I had the scene. It's not easily reproducible here, because I don't really know what the setup is - does it depend on the camera angle, the lighting, is there a ground object, is it textured or is it a matte object, and so on.
I would also like to try the cutoff attribute of the scanMtl - by default it's 0.01 (unlike 0.001 for the VRayMtl), but I somewhat doubt that this would be it, cause the image doesn't really suggest that.
If there's a ground plane - is it an infinite plane?

I'd pretty much need only what's visible in this image - the sphere, the material, the ground and the texture + the lighting and camera. If you let me know the name of the scanned material file, there will be no need to send it over. You can basically just select those object (+the lights and camera) and do File > export selection (with option box) and choose "maya ascii" format - this will make a new scene of only those objects.

          No worries.
          I've pm'd a scene.

          Cheers

It is reproducible here, we'll need some time to figure out what's wrong. Will keep you posted, thank you for the patience.

I think that the circular map used for opacity on the ground plane is what is actually reflected in the scanned material and that's where that abrupt line comes from. We'll look into why it's happening.

the problem is found and fixed, it's not related to the circular map of the mate object, it's a real problem in the shader-vray interaction.

                      Great stuff, thanks.

Will the fix be in the nightlies?

                      Cheers

It should be in with tomorrow's builds.

                          Is the build up?

                          I can only see:
                          V-Ray 3.0 for Maya - stable

Blender builds are on 30.04.2017, but Maya is on 20170426.

Hey, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. What you're looking at are the stable nightly builds (not built every day). Contact our support to see if you can get access to the nightly builds (built every day) - the fix is in those builds.
