  • Rendering Maya fluids? Best settings?

Anyone have any tips for getting the best render speed and quality out of Vray for Maya fluids?

I've tried all four sampling types and to get any decent quality it seems quite slow compared to Maya's native renderer, no matter what settings I use.

    Thanks.

They should render fine with V-Ray. I guess that when it comes to sampling, you would have to approach it just like with any other scenario, just keep in mind that fluids (volumetrics) could be a bit slower to render (or a lot - highly depends on the scene). What you can do to improve things is to add the VRay Fluid Shading Quality attributes to the fluid shape node. This allows more control over the shading quality (I'd usually go with the phoenix shading mode since it's faster in most cases). Here's more info on the topic and I hope this gets you in a good starting position: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...uid+Attributes
