  • Xen: Render Tubes Flat

    Hello,

I am just working on a project using the Xgen to create grass
everything works like a charm, only the grass looks more like seaweed
I think it would be good to render the hair flat instead of tubes

    pwd: gr4ssX!
(please don't spread its a client project)

Autodesk support wrote this would be possible with Arnold, but I don't see that option in the VraaMtlHair3

Suggestions to make the grass look more like grass would be appreciated
    Thnx
    Martin

From what I can see, they are rendered flat. In general, if you use a regular VRayMtl material, the strands will appear like a tube. If you use the VRayHairMtl material, they will appear flat.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Nothing has changed. Using a VRayMtl will make the strands appear as tubes and using a HairMtl will make them appear flat.

Try disabling embree from render settings > settings tab > System. (You can only choose to disable it for hair).
