  • Velocity map

    Hi folks.

    Can anyone help with using a velocity map render element.
    Easy enough to output but what are the steps in comp using AfterEffects.

    Reelsmart Motion Blur is pretty much the industry standard.

    Here's also some notes from Mr. RevisionFX himself, Pierre Jasmin:
    Don't check Clamp Velocity
    You can use Max Velocity of 1.0 if you like (but from there you are forced to work in floating point in project settings of AE) - this corresponds ot the Max Displacement value in RSMB + Vectors, so if you intend to work in 16 bpc, type in there the image width for example
    And you do need an alpha channel for MV, if you export via multi-channel EXR, you will need post eXtractor to put back the alpha (extract + Trck Mask layer above with Alpha)


    There are a bit old so I'm not sure still correct.

      Thanks SonyBoy, that's great.
      But is there an effect that you can use theres a whole list of camera blur effects in AE and didnt really know which to plug the map into.
      I'll get RMB.
