  • GPU noise with thresholds etc. set to 0

    Hi all

I'm rendering on the GPU and setting the following to 0:

    Max Subdivs
    Noise Threshold
    Max render time

The render finishes, showing the following last lines in the console:

[2017/Sep/10|18:30:19] V-Ray: Noise threshold lowered to 0.000031 with 7.7 percent active pixels.
[2017/Sep/10|18:30:19] V-Ray: Noise threshold lowered to 0.000015 with 7.7 percent active pixels.
[2017/Sep/10|18:30:20] V-Ray: Noise threshold lowered to 0.000008 with 7.7 percent active pixels.
[2017/Sep/10|18:30:20] V-Ray: Noise threshold lowered to 0.000004 with 7.7 percent active pixels.
[2017/Sep/10|18:30:20] V-Ray: Noise threshold lowered to 0.000002 with 7.7 percent active pixels.
    [2017/Sep/10|18:30:20] V-Ray: Final noise threshold set: 0.000000

The image is 8K, with small recessed holes and the holes are still a bit noisey.

However, if I carry out a small limited region of a few of the holes, the render is smooth.

    Cheers

Also, if I set the Max Subdivs and Threshold to 0, can I control the render by time only?

Can you get us a scene that we can look at?

Yes, in this case the render time should be the only criterion for when the rendering should stop.

      Thanks for the info.
I can't send a scene with the CAD data unfortunately, but could send the same scene minus CAD, if that helps?

We can try that and hope that it reproduces here too so we can come up with a way to fix it. Would you need ftp access? Alternatively you can send it to support@chaosgroup.com
