  • Mo blur artifacting

I'm getting some weird pinkish dots in some of my frames, which I think are being caused by motion blur. This is a pretty heavy scene to render, with a lot of glossy refractions and displacement (as much as 3 hours per HD frame), but since the artifacting is only appearing on frames with the heaviest moblur, I'm putting it down to that. See the attached image. Can anyone suggest what the cause might be? Click image for larger version

Good suggestion. It was turned on for the scene, off for moblur, but either turning both on or off produces the same result. I can produce the same result on the same frame posted above consistently.

      Awesome demo reel BTW!

Seems like a bug to me. Can you share the scene so we can try and reproduce it here and possibly fix it? What's the VRay version, btw?

Unfortunately it's a proprietary scene, but I'm using Maya 2016.5 with Vray 3.40.07. It's a handful of frames and I can probably get by with paint fixes for now.

          We hope to upgrade soon.

I see. Well, in any case, if this is 100% reproducible, i.e. the exact same frames have this problem each time, then whenever you can upgrade to 3.6 for example, please try out the same frames and see if the problem is still there. Or if there's a way to get a permission to send a stripped down version of the scene... or send it after the project is published... any way for us to reproduce the issue here is helpful to fixing it.

Yes, I'll likely be rendering this with 3.6 as well. If it persists and I can send the scene later I will. Thanks.
