  • Differing displacement results on two different machines

    I'm rendering a render-heavy scene on twos using two machines with Maya 2018 and Vray 3.6, so frames 1, 3, 5 on one machine, 2, 4, 6 on another. I have displacement on a glass object and I'm noticing flickering on the animation. It's very clearly because the displacement is not rendering the same on both machines. They are both Windows 7, although I'm not sure of other specifications. Seems like a bug. Anyone else seen this?

    This should not happen, are you certain the other machine finds the displacement texture? If so, see if setting the displacement to pre-tesselated fixes the issue?

      It's not a missing texture -- the displacement is there but there is some very fine flickering around edges of features. It only seems to be over a certain part of the frame sequence, however. I will investigate further.

        I'd have to see an example to be able to tell for sure, could be something else...
