  • subtracting vray RE "effect result" / recreate denoiser

Hi, i have some question about the denoiser Render element. So we planning to use the "effect result" from vray denoiser. but i want to have the freedom to recreate/rebuild passes or using subtraction method to reduce passes like reflection/lighting passes in nuke ( we dont have vray for nuke). is there a way to do it or tutorial? since the lighting/reflection passes still have the noise. im affraid that when we subtracting those element will add the noise back in.

    Thanks

It might be easier to just render your image with the denoiser set to "only generate render elements" and then use the V-Ray Denoiser plugin for Nuke to do the denoising there - it will allow you to denoise any channel (be it RGB or render element), update/re-do your denoising until you find the right settings and then do your compositing. That way, when you bring your exr into nuke, it will contain all the necessary render channels for the denoiser to work (like world positions, defocus amount and noiseLevel) and the V-Ray Denoiser plugin for Nuke will do the work for you.
Here's where you can get it from: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAYCH4EDIT/Misc

Let me know if you have any questions on using the vdenoise_nuke pluign, but it's fairly straightforward and not too different from the maya denoiser render element.

    Will this work for you?
