  • Vray GPU doesn't seem to render 3D texture placement nodes with the velocity render element.

    Hello,

We seem to be having problems getting Vray GPU (RT) to render with 3D texture placement nodes with the velocity render element.

We are using standard file nodes with a 3d texture placement node and a planar projection type (nothing fancy!)

An obvious workaround is to turn off velocity and render with motion blur. But I am keen to use Velocity in this case if at all possible.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

In a simple test, this seems to work just fine when GPU is used as a production renderer, but not when in IPR mode. Can you check if it works in production mode for you?
I think there's a problem where velocity is not generated at all in IPR (both with CPU and GPU). In any case, it would make more sense to render with GPU as production renderer to be able to save out your images (the IPR mode does not output images). And it will also work in standalone, should you decide to use it to render out vrscenes, instead of rendering in maya batch.
