  • Vrmesh randomly drops out

Anyone else experiencing that vrmesh proxies randomly drop out depending on the view?

I've had a library of trees for several years and always worked fine however on all scenes I'm getting proxies that randomly decide to render or not and haven't found a way to fix.
I wrote to vray support but did not hear back for a week.

It seems the problem is far worse, some frames - even with a static camera and no settings changed, the assets will disappear.

rendering from local drive or network? can you be more specific, is this during DR or regular session? Any error messages? are you using assets cache?

It seems that even changing resolution will cause mesh to randomly drop out. It also happened on many scenes and different assets but one thing you pointed out, "assets cache". Thanks MA!

Well I cleared the "assets cache" and the next test render, all the assets were back. That feature has been around a few years now and hadn't come across this before! Will post back if there are anymore issues while it's unchecked.

It also happened locally and during a regular session. No error messages.

I can confirm mesh drops out with "assets cache" unchecked. Back to square one.

I also turned light evaulation to "full evaluation". I'm completely lost as to why this is happening after using V-Ray for almost 10 years now!

I can do a render region without touching anything and each time things will disappear and reappear. It's like someone has put a random visibility node on all my assets on every scene I've ever used.

Edit: turned embree off too but that didn't help. turning all geometry to static didn't help either.

I think this was related to some changes in Update 4 of Maya 2018, I think we have a fix for it in the nightlies, but let me ask someone from the Maya team to confirm.

            Best regards,
            Vlado

A change in 2018 update 4 broke our visibility lists.
This is fixed in both V-Ray Next and the 3.60.05 stable nightly builds.
