  • cryptomatte and motion blur not working on GPU (v4.04.01.00009)

    Hi,

OS: VRay official build (v4.04.01.00009), Maya 2018.2, Windows x64

Working in a production scene using GPU engine and run into the following issue.
    Cryptomatte-related issue:
Cryptomatte not working in GPU bucket or progressive mode. Works fine in CPU mode.

    Motion Blur-related issue:
Motion blur works fine in regular render on both CPU and GPU but has no effect in CPU/GPU IPR. Wondering if it is disabled for IPR still?

    Thanks!
    always curious...

    Hey Jason,

What mode is the cryptomatte in (node name, material name)? Can you get me a scene for the cryptomatte issue? It should work with buckets for both CPU and GPU.
As for the motion blur - in Next, we've disabled in IPR (for both CPU and GPU) for stability reasons. Once we work those through, we'll re-enable it.

Hey Alex, the cryptomatte issue happened on both node name and material name. I'll see if I can re-create the issue using a simplified scene. I do remember the cryptomatte worked during Beta for GPU buckets.
Got it for the IPR moblur. Hope to see it addressed. Being able to dial in the moblur in IPR will be awesome.

yolov seems to me that there are some messy REs got referenced in and somehow hidden in the UI (Use referenced is disable). As I deleted existing REs, those 30+ reference REs pop up in the Render Elements tab.
As I create REs from scratch for the scene, cryptomattes works as expected for GPU buckets mode now.

Is it in batch mode only? The issue with the referenced render elements?
I'll check on the cryptomatte + GPU.

yolov it's with regular render in VFB. The production scene has no issue with GPU+bucket cryptomatte now after I clean up the Render Elements and re-create from scratch. Let me try if I can re-produce this with a simple scene for you.
Like I said, it's a bit strange that after I deleted existing REs, there are a bunch of referenced REs all of a sudden show up albeit the "Use referenced" is not ticked.

Sorry yolov I couldn't reproduce the error. I installed the latest nightly build for benchmark purposes and the cryptomatte works as expected in GPU bucket mode. Maybe it's addressed already in nightlies?
