  • Specular/reflection map artifact

I initially thought it was a lighting issue, but after toggling each light in IPR render mode the issue persisted. I've also exported my light rig and material library to a fresh scene. Applied the vraymtl to a new piece of geometry (simple rectangular cube) and the issue was non-existent. I've tried rebuilding the V-Ray material and yet the issue persists. The issue is present in my AO pass as well, so I'm guessing it is related to my brushed metal map, but no idea what it could be. Anyone else ever encountered this or have an idea what is causing the strange surface anomalies on the brushed metal?

can you post this piece and its texture maps? it could be a few things like anisotrophy, or texture map did you use normal map?

I was thinking it had something to do with anistropy also but still showed up when I returned anistropy value & rotation back to default of 0. I also linked the 2dplacement node to anistropy UV channel. I will attach the the texture map tomorrow. We have been using this map for almost a year without this issue so I don't think it is the map itself but will upload it asap with the scene file in the morning.

      Thanks,

If you could post (a part of) a scene that can help us run some test and try and reproduce this, it would be very helpful.
