  • Render region no longer works in VRay Next?

Hi, using Maya 2018.4 and Vray next (nov hotfix) - does anyone else notice that render region in the VRay Framebuffer is ignored?

When using it, it'll just render out the entire framebuffer.

Is there a new setting or bug or something I could do to fix? Render region was incredibly useful.

Could you give us exact steps to reproduce this here on our side? The Region render seems to work as expected from my test.

It seems it is broken even on a new scene.

Maybe it's to do with nvidia noise reducer?

I am still curious what the exact steps to reproduce your issue. Also, could you give us some examples? The render region option in the VFB window is working as expected.

Try reinstalling V-Ray and see if the issue will be still present. You could also try a previous version of V-Ray as well.

Will do, I've been using V-Ray for Maya since 2009.

It's definitely not working any more with V-Ray Next.

Will try again during the week with some screenshots and examples. Render region never once worked for me though on the latest platform.

If the issue is still present after the reinstall, write us an email to support@chaosgroup.com with a short description. We could arrange a remote session and investigate this on your system.

              Done!

It just does not work on any scene, even after a reinstall.
Also included a screencast showing it.

This is still unresolved/haven't heard back from support yet. Unfortunately every scene, both production and IPR, render region does not even function. I've screencast showing this issue...

Hi Nikolay, thanks for the reply!

I deleted the userPrefs.mel file. When maya created the default one Maya, it seems to have fixed the issue.
I have no idea how or why userPrefs was the issue but if it happens to someone else, then thats how to fix it!

I was having this same issue in 3ds Max, but I found it was due to the fact that I had the "enable built in frame buffer" box unchecked in the render settings (even though I was still able to open the VFB and render in IPR mode via the shortcut button despite this) When I re-checked the box, VFB again honored the region boundaries.

This just started happening to me as well. I haven't tried deleting user prefs yet but I just wanted to weigh in so you guys know this isn't an isolated incident.

It would be best to send us an email to support@chaosgroup.com so we could log this issue. We would need more details like the exact version of Maya(service packs), the exact version of V-Ray and a test scene so we could try to reproduce the issue here.
