  • Mac Distributed Rendering - "Render Host ... is not responding"

Tried to find an answer for this on the forums; apologies if I'm missing something...
I am trying to set up a host machine for distributed rendering. Host is accessible, vrayslave is running and enabled in the Distributed rendering panel, License server is running, vraydr_check shows machine ready. Every render in Maya states "Warning: line 1: V-Ray : Render host macpro.local (192.168.0.7:20207) is not responding"
The only thing I can't seem to resolve on the host machine is that when I try to re-launch the vray slave, Terminal states "Error: There is another server already running" But I don't know if that's a problem.
    Any suggestions?

It's possible that you had 2 slave instances at the same time, fighting for the port. This can happen if you've registered V-Ray slave as a Daemon during installation, and also ran it manually later. Can happen also if you register as Daemons 2 slaves on the same port - e.g. vray slave for 2 different Maya versions.

In such cases, you can either unregister the slaves and leave only 1 running, or leave none running and start it manually.

        Thank you Ivan,
Slave machines are now responding, but with a new problem of dark buckets from slave machine when batch rendering. I have a separate post on that:
