  • Differences in frames after re-starting MayaBatch

Some background - currently working on a animated short. Using VRay Next (latest version- hotfix 1) with Maya 2017 (update 3)

Rendering frames via MayaBatch (single machine for now). Experiencing an issue where if a sequence is re-rendered via MayaBatch there are differences in brightness in the rendered images.

eg - yesteday submitted a 80 frame sequence. After 41 frames the batch process was cancelled to resume work on other tasks (renders are happening over night). Today re-submitted the last 39 frames. Last 39 frames all have a shift in brightness compared to the first 41. This has happened a couple times on other shots also and has required re-rendering entire sequences.

Using default settings for the most part
Bucket Sampler: 1/32 Min Shading rate: 6
    BF/LC 3000, retrace 8
Color Maping Mode: Don't Affect Colors, Only Adaptation

Cache Bitmap and Geometry Plugins both switched off (assume this is not required in Batch Rendering?)

All maps/HDRI's are being loaded in from a network location. No errors to suggest anything is not being loaded.

Renders are otherwise coming out smooth/flicker free.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

    thanks

Does the brightness of the renders change if you change the exposure slider in the vray frame buffer? And is the brightness change only visible in the beauty and not the individual render elements? We have that problem with our farm

      Hey, thanks for the response.

The brightness changes on all the elements as well - that's one thing I checked initially thinking I may have increased a value on a light by mistake or in between saves. But no, its across the board (rendering most lights to separate light select elements)

I rarely use the exposure slider but the last time I did it definitely worked during a lighting session. These renders are straight out of mayaBatch. I'm stumped honestly but good to know i'm not seeing things
